OUTCRY
Outcry is a suite of nine mixed media works on paper mounted on panel, each approximately 9 × 12 in. This work began after a sudden heart stent procedure and ensuing recovery journey. From my growing archive of street photographs I pull stills, colors, and textures, then translate them onto paper. Nine panels, each built and unbuilt across cycles of construction and abrasion, holding both accumulation and loss.

Outcry began in the streets of NYC, with a change in how I photograph. After a cardiac event, I stopped the aggressive aiming, shooting, taking. I started receiving, standing still and letting the city come to me as it is, not as I'd like it to be.
From that archive I pull stills, colors, and textures, then translate them onto paper, about 9 x 12 inches. Pigment goes on, gets scraped back, sanded, rubbed out, reapplied. Nine panels, each built and unbuilt across cycles of construction and abrasion, holding both accumulation and loss. Stains, scars, and mistakes stay exposed. Nothing resolves into a clean final image, the record of the reversal is the point.
I'm after painting's potential as evidence, not illustration. This is a spiritual posture of redemption, not erasing damage but tending what's broken. Outcry is the fracture that insists on being seen, held open rather than resolved.
